Christ's First and Second Coming

When Christ comes the second time, it shall not be as it was on His first advent.

He came the first time to die in the sinner's place. He is coming the second time to execute judgment on the sinner.

He came the first time to seek and to save that which was lost. He is coming the second time "in flaming fire to execute judgment on all them that know not God."

He came the first time to be man's representative before a God of love and grace. He is coming the second time as God's representative against a rebellious world.

He came the first time in great humility. He is coming the second time in great power and glory.

He came the first time as the lowly Nazarene. He is coming the second time as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

He came the first time to wear the crown of thorns. He is coming the second time to wear the crown of glory.

He came the first time to be "despised and rejected of men." He is coming the second time to be acknowledged by all, both high and low, rich and poor, bond and free.

He came the first time to ride the lowly ass into Jerusalem. He is coming the second time to ride the great white horse, leading the armies of heaven.

He came the first time to submit to the unjust judgment of early potentates. He is coming the second time to compel all earthly rulers to yield their scepters to Him.

He came the first time to shed His blood on the cross. He is coming again as the mighty Conqueror whose "Vesture is dipped in blood" (Rev. 19:13).
