Observations and Comments ...

• I noticed in a paper that a church in Texarkana, TX early this year employed some "New Ministers." One was hired to be the Pulpit Minister, his official title. He has a Master of Arts Degree in Religion, so he must be qualified for his job. One interesting "fact" (?) caught my eye. He "is 30 years old… and has been preaching for OVER 20 years," so it is stated. If that is true it means that he "has been preaching" since he was 9 years old! Perhaps even younger. As an 8 or 9 year old preacher he must have been a real "stem-winder" or "power-house!"

Also, this same church had hired a "Minister of Involvement" who is at least 65 years old. Maybe this is a position for retired Pulpit Ministers, which he was for many years. Just what is a Minister of Involvement? It would be interesting to see a Job Description for such a church position. What kind of "involvement" does he minister?

The fact that they can't read anything in God's word about a Pulpit Minister employee or a Minister of Involvement employee means nothing to this church institution. Since there is no CHURCH INSTITUTION in God's word, nor any employees of such an institution, why should that church be concerned about employee positions not found in God's word? They aren't! It is all from men, not from God.

•SILENCING THE MAJORITY. The hate Crimes and Statistics Act of 1990 was the first federal bill ever passed specifically benefiting homosexuals. It requires the FBI and local police departments to record all acts of "hate" against homosexuals, and there is no doubt that they will use this law against preachers who denounce homosexuality and anyone else who correctly identifies homosexuality as immoral. The Disabilities Act bans discrimination in the hiring or firing of homosexuals with AIDS, and President Bush signed it into law with homosexual activists by his side.

•TRAGEDY OF SEX ED. A report by Dinah Richard, Ph.D., shows that from 1971 to 1981, when the federal sex education bill exceeded two billion dollars, there was a 48.3% increase in teen pregnancies and a 133% increase in abortions. She found that when contraceptive education was introduced there was a shift to more liberal sexual attitudes, which led to promiscuity. One poll shows teens who have a sex education course that discusses contraceptives experience a 50% higher sexual activity rate than those who have not had any formal sex education. •DEFECTIONS. One out of every five person raised as a Roman Catholic "no longer considers himself or herself an adherent of the faith," reports The New York Times. The survey shows that the number of defections is three times greater than the number converting to Catholicism. Interfaith marriages were cited as the primary factor among those defecting.
