Have Ye Not Read?

The tendency today is to let others do our thinking for us, particularly the clergy ("Ministers" and "Elders"). It is easy to run to the elders or our favorite preacher and accept what he says on a certain subject as "gospel." It is also very, very dangerous! "I heard it from the pulpit" is a favorite expression that seems to make what comes from the "pulpit" (whatever that really is) the "honest-to-God truth." God revealed His will in such a way that all of us can understand it. "For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand" (2 Cor. 1:13; Cf. Eph. 3:3,4). Make your own investigation of the word of the Lord, then, "the faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God" (Rom. 14:22). "Well,
